Introduction:
Welcome to Trouble Witches Neo! This game contains 12 achievements for 200 and is yet another shoot em up added to Xbox Live Arcade’s gaming lineup! Trouble Witches Neo brings in horizontal shooting in which cute and comical little witches roam the skies of Xbox LIVE! Sakurako, a traditional Japanese young witch, joins the cast of the Arcade version! The Story Mode offers a full voice dubbing in English and in Japanese to enjoy twice the game!
If you are familiar with other shooters such as Triggerheart Exelica or Strania then this game will be a cakewalk in comparison thanks to the Magic Barrier and Card system. Downloading the Luca DLC ($2) will also make this game even easier since she is so over powered. In Trouble Witches Neo you will choose from 8 cute Witches and taker her into a series of 6 stages in hopes of defeating the ultimate antagonist, Amalgam. This game may appear innocent and simple first off but don’t forget its slogan, “Cute but Frantic!”
Warning!:
This game contains achievements that net you odd gamerscore points such as ending your score with numbers like 1, 3, or 7. If you are afraid of losing your “pretty” gamerscore number and worried about not being able to get it back then I suggest you sit this game out. Having said that, you will be missing out on a great game if you do! Also, do not change the settings in this game or else achievements will not unlock. You can, however, unlock Mind Blowing difficulty regardless of how the settings are altered.
Step 1 - Getting Started:
First things first, you should see to it that you check out Challenge Mode and play Score Attack and Boss Attack mode once to get "A challenger!". You may also want to set your lives to 9 and 1CC the game under No Problem difficulty (1CC = 1 coin clear = beat the game without using continues). This will unlock Mind Blowing difficulty so that you can go for the "It's so mind blowing" achievement.
Step 2:
Next head into Arranged Single Player and complete the game as Sakurako for "Oh, cherry blossoms". Make sure you are playing a new difficulty each time you play Single Play and use a different witch each time to work toward "You're really into it, eh?" and "Cleared all characters". Be sure while playing each playthrough that you purchase 1UPs and interact with the shop keepers 8 times each visit for "Dont go touch crazy".
Step 3:
By now you should be quite experienced in the game and are ready for the trickier achievements. Head into Arranged Single player mode and finish the game without using a continue. Use Conan to make it easier and buy cards and use them to work toward "You're a card master too". If you pull off a 1CC then "Cleared no continues" is yours.
Step 4:
Hopefully you have been using every Witch and have swiped "Cleared all characters" along with "Master Alchemist" if you have been using your barrier in games. Now head into each game mode and max out your Star Coin Counter, destroy enemies while activating cards to rank up your counter. 5000 is the max number for Score Attack and 2500 is the max for Single Play and Boss Attack. Maxing coins out in every mode will reward you with "Star coins MAX to the MAX power!".
Step 5:
Now for the grand daddy of them all. Go to Boss Attack mode and work your way to the 20th round, I say use Louie. If you can somehow defeat Draupnir at Round 20-7 then you should unlock "How far will I make it?"
A Witch and Boss Strategy Guide can be found HERE.
Clean up:
If you are still missing achievements such as "Master Alchemist" then head back into Single Player on the highest difficulty and use your barrier to snatch up more coins from enemy bullets. If anything else like 1UPs or character playthroughs need to be mopped up, then now is the time to do it.
A Shop Guide can be found HERE.
Conclusion:
At the end of the day Trouble Witches Neo will prove to be both a fun and seemingly difficult game to get 200. Most of the achievements allow you to make mistakes and only one or two are actually challenging. "Star coins MAX to the MAX power!" and "How far will you make it?" are the only two achievements that make this game a bit tricky to 200 but with some practice and tricks provided in the guide, it can be done! Downloading Luca from the Marketplace can also make this game much easier.
