Introduction:
NCAA Football 08 is nothing you haven’t seen before. The gameplay, modes and achievement list is almost identical to every other NCAA football offering available. None of these achievements should cause you any problems at all, although some may require luck during dynasty mode simming. Although there are no cheats for this game, there is an arguably better option: adjustable sliders, editable rosters and customizable rules. Use this to your advantage! Turn off all penalties, max out all the USER sliders, and max out all the players’ stats on one team (USC/Texas) and lower them for another (Buffalo). Also, you can make the quarters any length you desire, so be sure to make them 1 minute long when doing dynasty so make the games a lot quicker.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Now, theoretically you could earn the games full 1000 after only one playthrough of each of the modes, but I would recommended at least 3 Play Now games and 2 different Dynasty playthroughs combined with the single Campus Legend run-through, single mini-game run-through and an online game (that you don’t even need to finish).
Part 1- Quickplay:
I broke the Quickplay achievements into 3 different games focusing on a different aspect each time: Passing, Rushing, and Defense/Special Teams. I had the games set to 5 minute quarters, on Freshman, with all the sliders and stats titled in my favor.
- Passing Game: In this game you should focus specifically on getting the pass related achievements. Odds are that after earning “Player Passing Record in a Game” and “Complete a 60 Yard Pass” you will be done this section.
- Rushing Game: In this game you should work on earning the rushing game related achievements. “Player Rushing Record in a Game" and “Break a 60 Yard Run” are the only 2 that might cause you trouble
- Defense/Special Teams: This game will probably the most difficult as the defense/special team achievements can be hard to get. “Player Interception Record” is probably the only difficult achievement in the game.
Odds are, after these 3 games you will have also gotten “Old Spice Red Zone Perfection”, “Score 35 Points”, “Allow No Sacks” and “Win by 21”. Now all you have to do is play 1 more game on Varsity and come back from a 14 point deficit when starting the 4th quarter to win.
Part 2- Mini Games:
After the Play Now games, the mini-games should be no problem. All you need to do is win a Tug of War game, score 15,000 points in Option Dash and Bowl a 300 in Bowling. The 1st two should be no problem, but if you’re having trouble scoring 12 TD’s in a row, reduce the opposing team's defensive players’ speed to 0.
Part 3- Campus Legend:
There are only 2 achievements for this mode and both are simple, simply follow the guide and “5-Star Legend Prospect” and “Fill Up Legend Meter” will be yours.
Part 4- Dynasty:
Now you’re mostly going to sim through a couple of Dynasty seasons. First, have an undefeated season with Texas, and you should get the all the Bowl oriented achievements as well as the Heisman (You have to actually play/supersim the Bowl games). Then in the off-season, be sure to make a promise to a prospect from the recruiting board, sim to the end of the off-season and you should also nab “Mr. February” and hopefully “Develop New Pipeline State”.
Now pick any 1-Star team, and keep simming undefeated seasons until your team becomes a 6-Star team, along the way, if you haven’t already, you’ll likely get the other Dynasty achievements.
Part 5- Online:
Simple. Find a boosting partner, start a Ranked Game, done. You don’t even need to finish playing, as soon as “Ranked Game” unlocks, just quit out.
Conclusion:
That’s it, a relatively quick, easy 1000 to add to your Gamerscore. If you are missing any achievements, check the Guide by The Pants Party below to put this game to bed. Oh, and don’t be afraid to check out almost all other EA Sports titles to boost your Gamerscore to the next level, they are as easy besides EA Sports shutting down their respective servers, which they will do quite often for older sports titles.
