Introduction:

Even though this game is a Sims game, there is only very basic customization. There is no difficulty setting for the story, though you can set it to Easy AI in quickplay or local. You will be playing through the entire story and trying to obtain gold medal in every mission. They can be replayed right away if you don't get gold, or later on in mission select. For the most part the game is eay, though at times it can be frustrating with dogfights and races. The game will seem cheap at times, and you will feel robbed of a win. This holds true in both modes. Sometimes, you will rely on pure luck to win certain things. As a base, you will get the majority of achievements in the story, and play quickplay or local to grind out the rest.

Step 1: Story

Story mode seems like it's going to be quick at first, but the missions keep dragging on. You cannot skip the talking entirely, just can speed through it. Cut scenes cannot be skipped, so replaying those missions can feel tedious. You should attempt all gold medals, retrying the levels right away. You can choose not to of course, and skip along through the story and replay them later. There seems to be no real way to fail a mission, you are just awarded better for being in first. Get yourself familiar with the Hanger, and create 5 planes (without mixing the parts around). After beating the story, you should replay levels you may have missed gold on. Also during story you unlock perks and upgrades. You should be going to the hanger whenever you unlock these to make getting gold medals easier.

Step 2: Replay Missions for Gold

If you didn't choose to retry every mission, or accidently carried on, you must replay them in mission select. To do this, choose story mode from the main menu and go to the SkyForce Barracks icon on the planet. Now choose Flight Log and you can scroll through and pick any level to replay. There are a total of 43 missions you need to have gold medals on.

Step 3: Local and Quickplay

You will probably be missing quite a few "takedown" related achievements by the end of the game. A second controller will help grind these achievements out. Go to Multiplayer and Local, press on your second controller and pick your wanted options. Explore the levels for the various powerups you need and equip your perks as needed for the specific takedown achievements you are going for. You should be able to average around 50 or so kills in a 20 minute period (this does depend on what powerup you are getting). If you don't have a 2nd controller, go to quickplay and face easy bots (or just 1 bot). Either way, set your options to double damage where possible. Make sure before you use your specific powerup it will kill them in one hit. You may have to shoot your enemy into the red for this to happen, depending on the powerup and on if you have a perk for it.

Conclusion

This game is fairly easy, but can be frustrating trying to get gold medals on some missions. It also seems a bit too long for what it is, and all the talking gets old very fast. You will almost feel like you're playing a much as reading (even skipping most of it). Overall plan to spend a few somewhat agonizing days completing this game. Some will enjoy it, others will wish they hadn't stuck it in their console.

The story mode seems like it will go fast, but it actually has a lot of text to skip through. You cannot skip cut-scenes nor the talking segments, but can only speed it up by pressing until it ends. There are acheivements for getting all gold medals, so view "General of the SkyHeroes" achievement description for more info.

  • Earn a gold medal in 75% of all story missions

See "General of the SkyHeroes" achievement description.

  • Earn a gold medal in 100% of all story missions

Each mission has about the same objectives for a gold medal. Either by getting the most points in a dogfight, or being first in a race. Some missions are based on time. The scores are individual, so even if your team wins you won't get the gold medal. You must be the one in first. The problem here is your team can steal your kills, take weapons you are about to get, and generally make things worse for you. Since there are a total of 43 missions, you must obtain 43 gold medals. You can check your progress by going to the SkyForce Barracks within the story mode in planet view. For the most part, they are really easy to get gold medals. You can just keep replaying the same mission if you don't get gold. If you choose, you can just skip ahead and try for gold later, by going to the said SkyForce Barracks. Choose mission log and you can scroll through the pages and see what medals you currently have. The "Accomplishments" section will tell you how many of each medal you have. Get here by pressing while in the Flight Log.

  • Unlock all customization parts in story mode

Getting a gold medal on all of your missions will gain you this achievement. You don't technically have to get gold on all of them in order to unlock this, as some missions don't give you parts. These are all story related. You can check your progress by accessing the SkyForce Barracks in story mode (an icon on the world map). Hit the and you will see the stats.

There are 3 categories you must reach 100% on which equals a total of 201 parts:

    Style Parts: 30

    Upgrade Parts: 156

    Tuning Parts: 15

It seems like a lot, but you get several parts when completing the missions and getting gold medals.

  • Assemble 5 planes in story mode where all parts are from the same aircraft type

From the main menu, go to your Hanger. Choose to Create New Plane. Now choose Upgrade and All. Choose a plane, then save and exit. Do this 4 more times to get the achievement, remembering to choose a completely different plane each time. Now go into story mode, and the achievement will unlock. You could also do this within the story mode hanger.

  • Complete story mission 'Death From Above'

See "I AM Big, The Planes Got Small" achievement description.

  • Complete story mission 'Rock The Ragnarok'

See "I AM Big, The Planes Got Small" achievement description.

  • Complete story mission 'All Rhodes Lead To Morcubus'

See "I AM Big, The Planes Got Small" achievement description.

  • Complete story mission 'All Your Base...'

See "I AM Big, The Planes Got Small" achievement description.

  • Complete story mission 'Mega Shark VS...YOU!'

There are a string of missions within the Morcucorp icon on the world in story mode. These missions are all story related and cannot be missed. They are a type of boss battle normally, and deal with the main enemies of the campaign. They will be available as you progress through the game.

  • Takedown 3 players in 10 seconds or less

This will likely come to you without much effort. You can get it in a dogfight if 3 enemies are around, or even better while in a race. If you're behind the AI and they are all close by, you can take focus on each until they are in the red, then just dispose of them one after another. It will be a lot easier for you to do after gaining parts for tuning. Go into your hanger and make sure you pick the wrench icon. You can have 3 perks total. You may have to wait to use the ones below, but these are the best ones for destroying other planes:

    1. Impulse Driver: High-Damage Machine Gun
    2. Quickloader: Rapid Missile Reload
    3. Summon-Bot: Long-Lasting Twin Options

This setup will give you a superior advantage, specific to picking up the Twin Options power up. Also later in the game you'll get the upgraded planes, but you will probably get this before even obtaining them.

  • 0wn3d

    15

Score 5 takedowns in a row without getting taken down yourself

You can get this through story mode quite easily. Use the parts listed in the "Speedy Takedowns" achievement description if need be.

Alternate Method: Plug in a second controller and to go to Multiplayer. Use local and press on your second controller. Now pick anything you want, and just keep killing your second controller until you get your 5 takedowns.

  • Score at least 12 takedowns in a single dogfight

Story Method: You may get this in story with a little luck, though might be tough with the time limit they give you. If you're playing on the Smuggler's Bay level, you'll see tentacles in water. Go to them and fight planes there. The tentacles will weaken the AI severely, and you just have to finish them off.

Quickplay Method: There's also the option of playing against AI bots in a dogfight free-for-all match. Do this in quickplay. Set the time or score high, and set AI difficulty to easy. Make Machine Gun and Missiles X2 Damage. You should have no trouble getting the achievement at all this way, especially if you use the right perks (see "Speedy Takedowns" achievement description).

Alternate Method: Plug in a second controller and to go to Multiplayer. Use local and press on your second controller. Now pick anything you want, and just keep killing your second controller until you have at least 12 kills.

  • Complete a race or dogfight in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place without getting taken down once

You might get this while casually playing through the game. The training missions are extremely easy to get this in. If you miss it, you can go back and replay them when you have perks and more advanced planes.

Alternate Method: Second controller in local play. Just complete a race or dogfight without letting yourself be destroyed.

  • Go from being below 10% health to 100% health without getting taken down

To get below 10% health, you need to be down in the red (almost no health). You then need to shoot planes to collect life until you're back at 100%. This will probably come naturally, or you can just use a second controller to get this easier in a local game.

  • All at once, have active 'Shield', 'Twin Options', and 'F-Beam' powerups

This is actually somewhat of a tough achievement, but follow the settings below to make it easy.

    Mode: Quickplay
    Type: Free-For-All Race
    AI Count: 0
    Plane: Level 3
Perks: Poly-Magnet, Fusion Generator, and Steel Capacitor
    Map: Metropolis Prime, Race 2

    How To

Grab the Shield Powerup on the top right of the first set of powerups. Continue on and you'll see the Twin Options on the left, in the middle path. Right before grabbing it, activate your shields. Now go straight shooting the mine in front of the F-Beam. Trigger your Twin Options and fire the F-Beam and the achievement will unlock.

Note: It is not required to have those perks, but it makes it a lot easier. You also have to have unlocked the mission in story mode first.

  • Play at least 1 mission with every perk

There are a total of 15 perks and they must be gained while playing through story mode. After you have unlocked the last of them, you may get this achievement. While in the hanger, you should already have at least 5 planes (because of the achievement associated with doing so). Edit the first plane putting on perks 1,2,3. Now edit the 2nd plane with perks, 4,5,6. The 3rd, with 7,8,9. The 4th with 10,11,12. And finally, 5th with 13,14,15. Name the planes accordingly if you want to keep track. Now go to story mode and to the Barracks. Replay any mission that isn't a training mission. Training missions will not count for this achievement. Pick a short mission (maybe Big Wargame Hunter) and just play that with each plane. It should take you roughly 15 minutes. You do not have to win, or even be active. Just let the timer run out.

  • Crash your plane

You will most likely get this while playing through story mode. Run into mines that are already in the environment or other objects that can be destroyed. Also, you can get this by flying out of bounds until you die, or even by something like the giant tentacles in one of the levels that are in the water.

  • Spend 20 minutes power turning

Power turning is when you are holding the while navigating with the . You should see the physical effect around your plane. You will be doing this a lot while trying to navigate around in dogfights as well as a little bit in races. If you do not have this by the time you complete the game, go into quickplay mode and set it so there are no bots. Set the timer for 20 minutes and turn in a circle until the achievement unlocks.

  • Spend 10 minutes at super boost speed

The super boost speed is when you see the green or red colored squares in the game (they are fairly transparent). Go through them to gain the boost. You can also pick up a powerup that also gives you this boost. There is a perk you will obtain that makes this boost last longer. You should get this through normally play of the story game. If not, replay races without bots in quickplay mode.

  • Earn a 1st place finish in a race

You will get this while going for all gold medals.

  • Earn a 1st place finish in a dogfight

You will get this while going for all gold medals.

  • Perform a total of 500 air stunts

To perform a stunt, press any direction with the . You should get this through normal playthrough of the story mode. If not, you will have a lot of grinding to do with the takedown achievements, so wait until after those before doing this on it's own.

  • Dodgy

    15

Dodge a total of 500 missiles

This will be obtained through normal progression of the story. The game alerts you when missiles are targeted on you (a red triangle with beeping). Go ahead and perform stunts or turn tightly to avoid them. If you don't have this by the end of the story, set up a quickplay with 8 bots (possibly on hard). You should avoid a good amount of missiles without trying.

  • Destroy a total of 1000 breakables

There are a lot of breakables on the levels, and you will be shooting most of them on accident while attacking enemy planes. You should get this through normal progression of the story without actively thinking about it. If not, then pick a level with a lot of them and make laps shooting them, as they will respawn.

  • Earn 50 takedowns using the 'Machine Gun' main weapon

This is your main weapon associated with . You will be using it a lot and will acquire these kills very fast in story mission. The perk associated with this weapon is called Impulse Driver, which increases the damage.

  • Earn 50 takedowns using the 'Missile' main weapon

The Missiles are your other main weapon, associated with the . They will replenish on their own. Having the Quickloader perk will give you a rapid reload. You should get this very quickly while going through story. These are not available in the race game types.

  • Earn 50 takedowns using the 'Multi-Missile' powerup

    See "Mines Master" achievement description.

  • Earn 50 takedowns using the 'F-Beam' powerup

    See "Mines Master" achievement description.

  • Earn 50 takedowns using the 'Twin Options' powerup

    See "Mines Master" achievement description.

  • Earn 50 takedowns using the 'Orbital Strike' powerup

    See "Mines Master" achievement description.

  • Earn 50 takedowns using the 'Shotgun' powerup

    See "Mines Master" achievement description.

  • Earn 50 takedowns using the 'Supernova' powerup

    See "Mines Master" achievement description.

  • Earn 50 takedowns using the 'Mines' powerup

The takedown achievements will most likely not be obtained while in story mode. You will have to play afterwards in quickplay against bots or even better, a second controller. Put as much time needed and pretty much any map. If you find there are more powerups in specific levels, do those. You can choose to mix it up for the most part, killing with whatever powerup you happen to stumble by, or you may plan ahead going for a specific couple and have your perks on to help. You can only have one powerup at a time and in most cases must shoot your enemy with machine guns first. The powerups must get the killshot to count. There are 7 powerups that have the takedown achievements associated with them.

Multi-Missile: Icon is 3 missiles. It will fire 3 missiles at once. You will want to keep your reticule on the plane you're attacking. It's a good idea to weaken the plane with machine guns first. Use the Kinetic Booster perk for this to increase damage. There are a lot of these powerups on every level. You can also set an option in quickplay or local to have X2 Damage on missiles.

F-Beam: Icon is a green beam. It shoots a steady beam that fires constantly until it runs out. Target an enemy and it does a lot of damage as long as you can hold the beam on them. Use the Time Dilator perk to make the powerup last longer. These are fairly common on most levels.

Twin Options: Icon looks like a pistol. It will give you machine guns on your plane that deal more damage and fire at a higher rate. This is possibly the best powerup for damage output. Use the Summon-Bot to make the powerup last longer. Impulse Driver might help as well, as it gives you higher damage with the machine gun. Also, while in quickplay or local, you can choose to have machine gun X2 Damage. This powerup is very common on most levels.

Orbital Strike: The icon for this powerup is a sattelite. Beams of pink energy will shoot down from the sky, dealing severe damage to anything passing through it. Use the Geo-Transmitter to increase it's damage. It somewhat rare on most levels, usually having one or two on the map. They usually have mines by them.

Shotgun: The icon is a shotgun. Make sure you're close enough and have the extra bright reticle before firing. Can hit multiple enemies. Use the Shock Conductor perk for higher damage. This is very common on most levels.

Supernova: The icon is what appears to be a blue explosion. It is an area of effect powerup that expands out in a sphere around your plane. It does extreme damage but sometimes does not hit your target at all if at the wrong angle or too close. The perk that helps with this powerup is the Mega-Collider which increases the damage. This is somewhat rare on most levels, having only 1 or 2 on the map.

Mines: The icon is a spiked ball. This powerup lays a bunch of mines in behind you. The perk to use with this is Thermal Amp to deal more damage. Planes will normally die in one hit with this. This powerup is fairly common on most maps.

  • Earn 25 takedowns from damage caused by destroying explosive breakables

This seems to be one of the more annoying achievements in the game. It's possible to get in story mode if you're lucky. If not, go into local play with a second controller. Any map works, but the best one is Imperial Palace. In the sky, with no obstacles, is two floating turrets and two mines. Shoot your second controller deep into red, and have it fly in the middle of those breakables. Now just fire away at the mines and it should kill your target. They respawn fairly fast, so you can get this done with a little effort.

If no second controller, you will find this to be a bit more difficult. There will be no sure way to get this besides playing a lot.

  • Destroy 50 locked-on missiles using the 'Supernova' powerup

The SuperNova powerup is the blue icon that looks sort of like an explosion. This power seems to be more of a rare powerup, so you will most likely have to load up a local game with a second controller. The perk associated with this powerup is called Mega-Collider. You can choose any level and find where the powerup spawns. It will respawn, so pick a map with two of them. The map "Testing Grounds" has two, one below the ship and another inside the ship. Cycle getting them. Have your second controller fire two missiles at you, and use the SuperNova before they hit you. The achievement will unlock in-game, so you can quit when you get it.

If you don't have a second controller, you will have to play against 8 bots to ensure you are having missiles shot at you.
