Introduction:
“The best-selling LEGO Batman video game franchise returns in an out-of-this-world, action-packed adventure! In LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, the Caped Crusader joins forces with the super heroes of the DC Comics universe and blasts off to outer space to stop the evil Brainiac from destroying Earth. Using the power of the Lantern Rings, Brainiac shrinks worlds to add to his twisted collection of miniature cities from across the universe. Now the greatest super heroes and the most cunning villains must unite and journey to different Lantern Worlds to collect the Lantern Rings and stop Brainiac before it’s too late.” - from LEGO.com.

Traverse through 15 sprawling levels and 11 hubs that take you to such locations as the Batcave, the Fortress of Solitude, the Watchtower and even the Lantern Planets. Unlock and play as your favorite DC Universe characters, each with special and unique abilities, as you try to thwart Brainiac’s ultimate goal of taking over the Earth!

All LEGO games follow the same formula. First you play through the story, then replay the levels in Free Play to get 100% in them then you tackle the hubs one at a time. This game is no different. Utilizing this method will maximize your time and you will complete the game sooner. Or, you can shake things up and play in any order you like!

Cheat Codes:
As with all previous LEGO games, using cheat codes do not disable any achievements. At any point in the game, press  > ‘Extras’ > ‘Enter Code’. Then enter in the code of your choice below.

Note: If you use the red brick codes, you still have to locate and purchase the red brick in the game for it to count towards the 100%.

Refer to this post for a list of cheat codes.

Character Abilities:
Sometimes in free play you need a certain character to perform a certain task and you don’t know who to use. This list has most of the abilities listed and which character you can use. Chances are you are going to use the same character for an ability all the time, but alternates are listed in case you want to mix things up.

Refer to this post for a list of abilities.

Step 1 - Story Mode:
There are 15 story levels to play through, each taking roughly 20-30 minutes, so you’re looking at approximately 6-7 hours to complete this step. These levels are not difficult at all but you may become stuck in certain areas as to what to do next. If that happens, there is a Youtube walkthrough playlist linked below to assist you.

Don’t worry about any collectibles or attaining True Hero the first time playing as you cannot gather most of them through story mode anyway. Plus, you need certain characters to access certain areas of the level that aren’t available to you in your first playthrough. Just sit back and enjoy the story.

Once the story is complete, you will unlock the bonus level where you play as Batman and Robin from the 1966 TV show, with voice over by the one and only Adam West.

Step 2 - Free Play Mode:
It is recommended that you complete the story first before going back and playing the levels in Free Play.

Once you have completed the story, free play opens up for all the levels and the hubs. You can do them in any order, but it is suggested that you complete free play in the levels before the hubs as there are red bricks you unlock and purchase that will help you as you go along. Of course, if you are using video walkthroughs, you don’t really need any of these bricks except maybe the stud multipliers.

Each story level contains five gold bricks: completing the level (which you should have gotten in Story mode), attaining True Hero, finding all 10 minikits, rescuing Adam West and finding all three character tokens. Playing through each level again should take about the same time each as it did playing through the story, so it’ll take about 6-7 hours to accomplish this step. Play through each level and complete them 100% before moving onto the next one so you don’t have to backtrack and play it again.

Full 100% for all levels and hubs (playlist courtesy of packattack04082)

Step 3 - Hubs:
You have limited access to areas of the Batcave and the Watchtower after you complete level four, ‘Space Station Infestation.’ You gain full access to all areas (including the Hall of Justice) and can access the character grid to purchase and switch characters after completing level six, ‘The Lantern Menace.’ You can also go back and play completed levels in Free Play once you complete that level.

Each hub has side-quests, puzzles and small battles to unlock character tokens and gold bricks. Certain side-quests don’t appear until previous ones are completed, so same with the Free Play levels, complete one hub 100% before moving onto the next one to reduce backtracking and to maximize your play time.

You do not have access to the seven Lantern planet hubs until you have at least 10 gold bricks and have completed the corresponding level. Plus, you have to build the portals to these planets in the Moon Base before you can visit them. The Lantern planet hubs also contain side-quests, puzzles and small battles, but also include races. Each race (12 on Oa and three on each of the six other planets) reward you with a gold brick. The controls are better and the races are shorter than what was in LEGO Marvel, so you really shouldn’t have too much trouble with these.

Step 4 - Mop Up & 100%:
Don’t forget to complete all 21 VR missions in either the Batcave or Watchtower. They reward you with gold bricks, character tokens and/or vehicle tokens. Then make sure you’ve purchased all the characters and vehicles (only location to purchase vehicles is on Oa). Also make sure you purchase all 20 red bricks. If you’ve missed anything in Free Play or in the hubs, now is your chance to complete it. Press  to see what your percentage is. If it’s 100%, make your way to the Green Room in the Watchtower Control Room, pull the lever and watch the studs fall!

  • Complete Bonus Level - Same Bat-time! Same Bat-channel!

In previous LEGO games, the bonus level consisted of collecting 1,000,000 studs to complete it. This time around it plays just like a normal story level. It has 10 minikits, an Adam West in Peril, three character tokens and you can attain True Hero status. That being said, obtaining all five gold bricks in this level is required to 100% this game but not a requirement for this achievement.

Once you complete Story mode, you have access to the 1966 Batman TV Series bonus level. To locate it, fast travel to the Batcave (press  to view the map, select the Batcave and press ) and follow ghost studs trail to the slideways teleporter which leads to the Trophy Room.

Once there, run all the way to the right to find the set of a television show. The set itself looks like the study of Wayne Manor from the TV show. The '60s Batman theme will be playing when you find it. At the back of the living room in the middle is a very tall bookcase. To its left will be a bust on a pedestal that you need to destroy with a batarang, revealing a grapple point that you can hook onto.

Grapple it and when you pull on it, the bookcase collapses revealing two poles to slide down. Jump into the opening and you'll be taken to the bonus level. The achievement will unlock upon completing the level.

  • Witness the 100% LEGO Stud Fountain

You will obtain 100% in this game once you have satisfied these requirements:

    • Collect all 250 Gold Bricks.
      • Five in each of the 16 levels (80 bricks).
        • Complete each Story Level and Bonus Level (16 bricks).
        • Attain ‘True Hero’ in each Story Level and Bonus Level (16 bricks).
        • Collect 10 minikits in each Story Level and Bonus Level (16 bricks).
        • Rescue one Adam West in Peril in each Story Level and Bonus Level (16 bricks).
        • Unlock three character tokens in each Story Level and Bonus Level (16 bricks).
      • Rescue the remaining 14 Adam West in Perils in the hubs (14 bricks) (refer to “The Bright Knight”).
      • Complete all 21 VR Missions (in the Batcave or Watchtower) (16 bricks).
      • The remaining bricks are obtained by completing races, puzzles and character side-quests in the Hall of Justice, Hall of Doom, the Watchtower, the Batcave and on the 7 Lantern Planets (140 bricks).
    • Unlock and/or purchase all 20 Red Bricks (total cost is 18,100,000 studs) (refer to “Under the Red Brick”).
    • Unlock and/or purchase all 147 Characters (DLC not included) (total cost is 25,852,000 studs).
    • Unlock and purchase all 21 Land Vehicles and 14 Air Vehicles (total cost is 3,325,000 studs).
    • Create a custom character.

When you have achieved 100%, go to Control Room in the Watchtower. There is a door on the far right (the same one for “The Green Room” achievement). Enter it and there will be a table in the center of the room with a switch. Pull the switch and studs will start falling from the ceiling, unlocking the achievement.

Full 100% for all levels and hubs (playlist courtesy of packattack04082).

  • Attain ''True Hero'' status in any level

Since the True Hero requirement for Level 1, ‘Pursuers in the Sewers,’ is only 70,000 studs, you can attain this without difficulty on the first level without using any multipliers. If you wish, you can use the cheat code for the x2 Multiplier, which is 5MZ73E.

Please note that if you do use the cheat code, you still need to locate and purchase the red brick in the game for it to count towards 100%.

  • Play as Batman (Zur-En-Arrh)

The character token for Batman (Zur-En-Arrh) is located in the Trophy Room in the Batcave. To unlock him, you need to activate three switches.

    • The first switch is located on the platform where the red brick station is. To the right of it is a box. Break it up and you can build your first switch.
    • The next switch is located to the right of the stairs leading up to that platform. Break apart all the bricks and build them to reveal your second switch.
    • The last switch is located behind silver LEGO bricks on a ledge between the platform and the bonus level set. You need a flying character and an explosive character for this one. Destroy the silver bricks to reveal the third switch and fly up to flip it.

The character token will appear on the platform. Collect it and he can be purchased for 25,000 studs. Once you have purchased him, select the character to unlock the achievement.

The cheat code for this character is ZWQPJD.

Thanks to LukaLaurent for the video:

  • Transform Bane into Bane (Venom-Powered)

The character token for Bane is located at the beginning of the second checkpoint of Level One, ‘Pursuers in the Sewers,’ in Free Play. To unlock him, you need to freeze the puddle of water on the ground which forms an ice statue. Then melt the statue to collect the character token. Superman has both of these powers.

Bane is available to purchase for 100,000 studs. Once you have purchased him, select the character and hold down  to transform him into Bane (Venom-Powered) to unlock the achievement.

The cheat code for this character is XZKLKQ.

Thanks to LukaLaurent for the video:

  • Set both Free Play characters as Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk

The character token for Mr. Mxyzptlk is available to you once complete the side-quest ‘Not-So-Scared Crows’ in the Hall of Doom. You need to complete three previous side-quests to unlock this one:

    • ‘Lost in Translation’ (Batcave).
    • ‘Sleep Well’ (Batcave).
    • ‘The Pain Man’ (Hall of Doom).

The pre-requisites for unlocking Bat-Mite are extensive. In each of the 16 story missions, you need to complete his side-quest (to unlock character tokens). Then, you need to complete three additional side-quests in two hubs:

    • ‘The Best Laid Plans of Bats and Men’ (Hall of Doom).
    • ‘Hat Trick’ (Hall of Justice).
    • ‘Proof is in the Pummeling’ (Hall of Justice).

Mr. Mxyzptlk is available for 25,000 studs and Bat-Mite is free. Once you have purchased them, select one of them as your character. Then switch characters and select the other as your other character and the achievement will unlock.

Thanks to LukaLaurent for the video:

  • Find and destroy a hidden doughnut on a hub planet

Refer to “One Small Step for (Bat)Man...” and “One Giant Leap for (Bat)Man-kind” for more information about accessing the Moon Base and the Lantern hub planets.

Each Lantern Planet has a hidden doughnut somewhere in the level. To describe the locations of each of these would be tough as the planets are round so giving a point of reference would be difficult. LukaLaurent has been kind enough to provide a video with the doughnut location on the planet Zamaron (you need a flying character to get to it).

Upon arriving, if you speak to Green Loontern about his first side-quest on that planet (called ‘Welcome to Zamaron’), the path he leads you on will pass the doughnut high up on a rock formation. Fly up to it and destroy it to unlock the achievement.

Thanks to LukaLaurent for the video (Zamaron):

  • Jump on bouncy objects 50 times

You can get this easily in Story mode. At the beginning of Level Nine, ‘Power of Love,’ walk up the first set of stairs and there will be an objective to block the portal that the Sapphires are coming out of. Use Cyborg to smash the translucent blue bricks and build a platform so The Flash can use it to build flowers to jump up to the platform to block the portal. This is part of the story.

After The Flash builds the flowers, simply jump on one and you will continually bounce up and down. Just let your character bounce 50 times and the achievement will unlock.

  • Glide continuously for 10 seconds

You can unlock this with ease in Story mode. During Level Three, ‘Space suits you, Sir!’, when you need to refuel the rocket ship in the Batcave, you come to a point where you build a fan that floats you up to another platform. When you jump on the fan, you will be hovering in place. Hold  to glide for 10 seconds and the achievement will unlock.

  • Set both Free Play characters as Green Arrow and Green Lantern

Green Lantern is unlocked naturally when you complete Level Three, ‘Space suits you, Sir!

The character token for Green Arrow is located after the second checkpoint in Level Four, ‘Space Station Infestation’ in Free Play (when you take over as Robin and Cyborg). To unlock him, you need a flying character and an electricity character.

On the upper level in the near left corner of the area, you need to speak to Bat-Mite to initiate the side-quest. From there, at the back of the area up on a platform is an electricity station to juice up your character. When that’s done, drop down to the main floor and just below the electricity station is a conduit. Fire it up and the box next to it will open. Grab the object, switch to a flying character, and fly back up to Bat-Mite and speak with him (follow the blue arrow). Give the object to Bat-Mite and he will give you the character token.

Green Arrow is available to purchase for 300,000 studs. Once you have purchased him, select him as your character. Then switch characters and select Green Lantern as your other character and the achievement will unlock.

Thanks to LukaLaurent for the video:

  • Find a gang of jumping cows on the Moon

Refer to “One Small Step for (Bat)Man...” for more information about gaining access to the Moon Base.

Once you’ve built the portal and stepped through it, follow the corridor outside and keep running or flying straight. Eventually you will see a crater with three cows jumping up and down. The achievement will unlock shortly afterwards.

  • Play as The Riddler in the Batcave Trophy Room

You can only unlock this achievement with the modern Riddler character and not the 1966 version.

The character token for The Riddler is available to you once complete the side-quest ‘Tripple Riddle’ in the Hall of Justice. You need to complete five previous side-quests to unlock this one:

    • The Best Laid Plans of Bats and Men’ (Hall of Doom)
    • Think Bike’ (Hall of Doom)
    • Five Studs, Please’ (Hall of Doom)
    • Tricky Tour Guide’ (Hall of Justice)
    • Nightwing of Fire’ (Hall of Justice)

To complete this side-quest, you need to solve three riddles. Refer to the video below for the solutions. Once you have solved the third riddle, you will receive a gold brick and the character token. The Riddler is available to purchase for 250,000 studs. Once you have purchased him, select the character and travel to the Batcave Trophy Room. Upon entering, the achievement will unlock.

Thanks to LukaLaurent for the video:

  • Complete any hub race as Green Loontern

To earn this achievement, you first need access to the Moon Base and all of the Lantern hub planets. Refer to “One Small Step for (Bat)Man...” and “One Giant Leap for (Bat)Man-kind” for more information.

To unlock Green Loontern as a playable character, you need to complete all 20 side-quests given to you by him. The first one is when you build the portal to the Moon Base. Then he has 19 additional side-quests on every Lantern hub planet except Oa. Upon completing the final side-quest, he will be unlocked to purchase for 50,000 studs.

Once you have purchased him, switch to his character and enter any one of the 7 Lantern hub planets. There are 30 races to choose from (12 on Oa and three on each of the six other planets). Complete one race as Green Loontern and you will unlock this achievement.

Note: Races are replayable at any time, even if you’ve previously completed them.

  • Create a custom character

You can create a custom character in either the Batcave or the Watchtower once you’ve completed Level Six, ‘The Lantern Menace

In the Batcave, from the portal entrance, make your way to the right of the cave, crossing platforms and over a bridge. You will see a giant door at the back right flanked by a character cylinders on either side. Walk through the door to access the next area. Climb the stairs to the character creation area.

In the Watchtower, from the Control Room, head down the stairs and through the door on the left. In the next area, head to the left and up through the door in the Laboratory. Walk to the left and up some stairs and the character creation area is in an alcove.

Step on the white crosshairs and press . Press  to select a custom character. Press  to select a category for what you wish to edit (name, body type, hat, whole body). Once you’ve made your changes, press  then to use that custom character and the achievement will unlock. You must use the custom character directly from the customizer for the achievement to unlock.

Note: If you are going for 100% in this game, this achievement is unmissable. There are at least three instances in the hubs where you are required to change your character’s attire to complete side-quests, so you can wait for those opportunities or unlock this after completing Level 6.

    Batcave Character Customizer:

    Watchtower Character Customizer:

  • Knock out your buddy on the planet Nok

This cannot be done during the story; it can only be done by traveling to the Lantern hub planet.

In order to access Nok, you first need to build the portal to the Moon Base. Refer to “One Small Step for (Bat)Man...” for more information. Then you'll need 10 gold bricks and have completed Level 11, ‘Jailhouse Nok,’ to be able to build the portal that will allow you to gain access to the Lantern hub planet Nok.

Once you’ve built the portal and stepped through it, when you arrive on Nok, simply defeat your secondary character and the achievement will unlock.

  • Set both Free Play characters as Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn

The character token for Poison Ivy is available to you once complete the side-quest ‘Love Stinks’ in the Hall of Doom. You need to complete four previous side-quests to unlock this one:

    • The Pain Man’ (Hall of Doom).
    • Not-So-Scared Crows’ (Hall of Doom).
    • I, Penguin’ (Hall of Doom).
    • The Garden of Love’ (Hall of Doom).

The character token for Harley Quinn is available to you once complete the side-quest ‘Five Studs, Please’ in the Hall of Doom. You need to complete two previous side-quests to unlock this one:

    • The Best Laid Plans of Bats and Men’ (Hall of Doom).
    • Think Bike’ (Hall of Doom).

Poison Ivy is available for 25,000 studs and Harley Quinn is available for 120,000 studs. Once you have purchased them, select one of them as your character. Then switch characters and select the other as your other character and the achievement will unlock.

Thanks to LukaLaurent for the video:

  • Find and destroy a hidden Riddler Trophy

There is a hidden Riddler Trophy located behind a smashable wall in the Batcave, right next to the entrance of the bonus level. You can unlock this once the Batcave is available to you after Level Four, ‘Space Station Infestation.

From the Batcave Trophy Room, make your way all the way to the right until you get to the TV show set/bonus level entrance. You will see a brown wall just outside the area with white beams shooting out from it, indicating it’s breakable. Switch to a big fig character or someone who can transform into one and smash the wall. It will reveal a green question mark. Keep swinging inside the hole to melee the trophy and the achievement will unlock.

  • Visit all of the HUB Lantern Planets

To access the hub Lantern Planets, you first need access to the Moon Base. Refer to “One Small Step for (Bat)Man...” for more information. Then the following is required:

    • Zamaron - 10 gold bricks and complete Level Nine, ‘Power of Love.
    • Odym - 10 gold bricks and complete Level 10, ‘A Blue Hope.
    • Nok - 10 gold bricks and complete Level 11, ‘Jailhouse Nok.
    • Ysmault - 10 gold bricks and complete Level 12, ‘All the Rage.
    • Okaara - 10 gold bricks and complete Level 13, ‘Need for Greed.
    • Qward - 10 gold bricks and complete Level 14, ‘Aw-Qward Situation.
    • Oa - 30 gold bricks and complete one of the Lantern Planet story levels listed above.

Once you have enough gold bricks and have completed the appropriate levels, travel to the Moon Base. The first six Lantern portals are located in the building and the portal to Oa is located on the Moon itself. Build each of the portals and step through them. Upon landing on the seventh planet, the achievement should unlock.

It has been reported that sometimes stepping through each portal doesn’t unlock the achievement. If that happens to you, then either head back to the Watchtower Control Room globe or press  to view the map and select the hubs that way. You still need to build the portals to the planets in order to select them.

  • Visit the Moon Base in the Hub

The Moon Base is available once you’ve collected at least nine gold bricks and completed one of the Lantern Planet story levels, the first one being Level Nine, ‘Power of Love.

From the Watchtower Control Room globe, go down the stairs and left through the door. Follow the stairs to the left and keep going down and the Moon Base portal is located directly below the door you just entered from.

Green Loontern is standing next to the broken portal and you will hear him talking to himself before you see him. Speak to him to initiate the side-quest ‘Permission to Launch.’ When the conversation is over, walk up to the portal and build it. Green Loontern will speak again, and when he’s done, you will receive a gold brick and access to the portal. Step through it to travel to the Moon Base to unlock the achievement.

  • Transform from Billy Batson into Shazam!

The character token for Shazam! is located towards the end of Level Three, ‘Space Suits You, Sir!,’ and can be collected in Story mode. Your objective will be to override the batcomputer. When you access it, you will be in some kind of virtual reality maze. In the maze, you need to activate three switches that generate a box. Smash that box to collect the token.
