Introduction:
Welcome back to the world of Dead Rising in this enjoyable epilogue to the retail version of Dead Rising 2. This game is an arcade game that costs 800 Microsoft Points and does not require the Dead Rising 2 game to play. With it comes several new weapons, seven new combo cards, a new location to explore and most importantly the return of Frank West. He's covered wars you know.

Playthrough Strategy:
Play the single player first to get all the achievements except Double the Fun. Then if you can join a co-op game who at the end, you can get Double the Fun without having to do every case in co-op.

If you start with your single player playthrough first it is possible to get all of the achievements in one go. Just manage your time wisely. I would suggest taking care of Petty Vandal, Amateur Photography, Professional Photography, Phenotrans Nuisance, and Phenotrans Bubble Burster first. Make sure you are doing the case files as you do this.

At the finish of Case One, start working on Savior as the survivors are time-based. You can also work on Handy Man and Zombie Hunter during Case 2. Zombie Hunter isn't as bad as it seems and Handy Man is pretty quick since the maintenance rooms have most of what you need. At the end of Case 2 the Hazard units will appear and you can quickly get Phenotrans Sabotage. During all of this you will be working toward Ultimate Power! Finally, once you beat the game you will get Fantastic.

After that just beat the game on co-op for Double the Fun and mop up any achievements you might have missed like Ultimate Power!

Conclusion:
Case West is a very fun game, especially with a friend and in my opinion it is well worth the 800 Microsoft Points. It has a lot more stuffed into it then Case Zero did. The game is not hard by any means and is made even easier if you're a veteran of the Dead Rising series.

There are 12 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • You killed 1000 zombies. Is that it?

This is not nearly as hard as the retail games. I did it on my single player playthrough when I went for Savior. In the main security room there are always a lot of zombies on the ground floor. Just spend a little time killing them there and it'll come in no time. I used a combination of shooting all the explosives lying around and would occasionally grab the little golf cart by the safe house and drive over them. You can also combine a shock prod and floor buffer to create the Zap N' Prod, with which you can get you around 100 kills before it breaks. Don't forget to do the case files in between killing. If you don't, your game will end and you'll have to start over.

  • You created all the new combo weapons in Dead Rising 2: CASE WEST. Duct tape, to the max!

For this you don't need the full cards to get the achievement. You can build them from the start and it will unlock. This can be done over multiple playthroughs.

    Sterilizer
    Chemicals + Syringe Gun

    Zap N' Shine
    Floor Buffer + Electric Prod

    Shocker
    Defibrillators + Medical Tray

    Lightning Gun
Blast Frequency Gun + Electric Prod

    Reaper
    Sickle + Katana Sword

    Impact Blaster
Impact Hammer + Blast Frequency Gun

    Laser Gun
Gems + Flashlight = Laser Sword combined with a Lightning Gun.

  • You completed Dead Rising 2: CASE WEST. Frank West would be proud.

    Can't be missed, story related.

  • You took your first picture. Ain't it pretty.

Right when you start hold down the and which will bring up your camera. Just hit to take the picture.

  • You took a picture of all the PP Stickers. You've got a good eye.

Just make sure you see the little green check mark in the PP sticker after you take the picture and your 1000 experience points pop up. That's how you'll know the picture counted. If your camera is full, exit out to the menu and view your pictures. There will be an option to delete them there.

Here's a video guide of all ten locations.

  • You killed 5 Hazard Units. Looks like working there was hazardous to their health.

These are the big guys that show up toward the end of the game. They seem hard at first, but they're not. The easiest way to kill them is by using their own weapon against them, the impact blaster. Kill five and the achievement is yours.

  • You destroyed all security cameras in a single playthrough. Lights out for Phenotrans.

There are a total of 47 cameras to destroy. Isn't very difficult or time consuming. A list of all the camera locations can be found HERE.

Also note that in co-op only the host will get this achievement.

  • You killed 20 Security Guards. What did they ever do to you?

These guys are all over the place and this achievement should come pretty quickly. If you want to get it done quickly kill the guards around the guard tower. There are usually four or five around there. Then go back to the safe house to reset them and do it all over again. The guard tower also has a lot of guns and grenades to stock up on if you want.

  • You killed 10 Zombie Handlers. Looks like they couldn't handle you.

These guys are always on the ground floor in the containment suits with cattle prods, shocking zombies. Just shoot, hit or run over them until you get ten. This is another one that comes quickly.

  • Savior

    20

You saved all survivors in a single playthrough. Really? Even after all Phenotrans did to you.

There are thirteen people in your notebook, but only nine of them are people you actually have to save. The one nice thing is you don't have to lead them back to the safe room after you save them like past games. They will run off and you're done. The survivors appear at different times and you are never notified about them. You just have to find them at the right time in the right spot. I will list them by how I found them and around the time they appeared for me.

These have to be done in one playthrough.

    WHO: Hernando Arisa
WHEN: Right after Case 1 ends.
WHERE: Will be standing on top of some boxes at the bottom of the stairs to the safe room right after Case 1 ends.
    ITEMS NEEDED: None.

    WHO: Lisa Hersey
WHEN: Available right after Case 1. After saving Hernando he will tell you about her.
WHERE: First, you will have to go to the cafeteria and find a note from her, which will then lead you to the security tower for another note. After that you will find her on the first floor of the living quarters.
    ITEMS NEEDED: None.

    WHO: Alica Hobbes
WHEN: Around the same time as Lisa. End of Case 1 into Case 2
WHERE: First floor of the research labs.
ITEMS NEEDED: Have a cattle prod in your inventory for her.

    WHO: Robert Staymore
    WHEN: Beginning of Case 2.
WHERE: In the holding pins on the west side by the maintenance room standing on some boxes.
ITEMS NEEDED: Have an assault rifle in your inventory because he will ask for one.

    WHO: Allie Jack
WHEN: Around Case 2 to Case 3
WHERE: Upstairs hallway in the harvesting room.
ITEMS NEEDED: Nothing. Just fight the zombies off to save her.

    WHO: Jerry Sampson
WHEN: Toward the end of Case 2 but before you blow up the electric room in Case 3
WHERE: Living quarters. Second floor in a back room above the stairs that are across from the maintenance room.
ITEMS NEEDED: Have a laser sword and a lightning gun with you.

    WHO: Regina Dee
WHEN: Middle of Case 2 until Case 3 starts.
WHERE: Corner of the storage room near you safe house.
ITEMS NEEDED: Upon talking to her she will request a liver and a heart. Your compass will show where they are in the research labs. Both are in small coolers and they will take up space in your inventory. Bring them both back to her to finish.

    WHO: Mizuki Tanahara
WHEN: After you save Regina she will tell you about Mizuki.
WHERE: Down in the tunnels near your safe house, which Regina will give you a key to once you save her. He will be in a little alcove almost right after you enter the tunnels.
ITEMS NEEDED: Nothing. He will attack you when he sees you. Just punch him or smack him around with a blunt object and he will finally relent and be saved.

    WHO: Dean Templeton
WHEN: Some people have problems with him. I found him after I blew up the electric room. I had to leave the area and come back a few times to get him to appear so keep trying that if needed.
WHERE: In the living quarters at the back in the server room.
ITEMS NEEDED: You'll need an energy drink. Just mix an apple and a whiskey together in the cafeteria blender. Both those items are sitting on the table with the blender, so don't bother searching around for them.

  • You completed Dead Rising 2: CASE WEST with a co-op friend. Must be nice to have a friend.

Just beat the game with an online friend and the achievement will pop after the last boss. If you join anybody's game who is at the end you can get the achievement by beating the last boss with them. You don't have to do all of the cases co-op like Dead Rising 2.

  • You got to level 50. Can you feel the power?

When you start the game you're already a level 40, so you only have to gain an extra ten levels for the achievement. It took me less than a playthrough and a half to reach 50. If you want it quickly, kill lots of the special characters like security guards and wranglers who give you extra PP. Also saving survivors gets you extra PP. Finally when you first enter the harvest room you'll see a pit with zombies in it. Next to that is a control panel and if you turn it on, it will burn the zombies below and also net you 5000 extra points.
