Crystal Quest can be made much easier by playing without the Xbox LIVE update. The reason for this is because in the update the achievements were changed and made around 5x harder.

Introduction
Welcome to Crystal Quest! This arcade game as 12 achievements worth a total of 200. Although only one playthrough can net you all the achievements, it is indeed very hard. A handful of these achievements are made easier by playing with the difficulty slider set to '10', while others at '5' and another few at '1'. The reason for the 10 is because you get a lot more points and more enemies appear on the screen when compared to 1.

Playthrough #1 - Difficulty set at 10
Set your difficulty slider right up and start a game. Be sure not to hit anything as anything will kill you. As you reach 250,000 points (without the update) you will unlock three achievements worth a total of 40 (65 if you do not use a smart bomb). Following the achievement guide for "Life-saver" and "Apocalypse", complete what is required and by the time you are done you should have the achievement "Crystal Ninja". This playthrough will net you 105

Playthrough #2 - Difficulty set at 5
Setting your difficulty slider down to 5, we set off on our second playthrough. Playing to wave ten, you can get the "Treasure Hunt" achievement (collect the large crystals) and "Navigator" (avoid all the mines). See the achievement guide for more information on the achievements. Level 10 is around the time you will have both achievements.

Playthrough #3 - Difficulty set to 1
Again, set your difficulty slider all the way down to 1. This is the most time consuming portion of Crystal Quest and you will spend a good amount of time playing the game all the way up to level 60. While going for 60, you will gain a large amount of smart bombs. Keep these and once you reach 30 of them you will gain the achievement "Smart-aleck". Remember, you can die whilst going for the "Marathon" achievement, but if you die when you have no lives you will, erm, die.

Final Achievement
You will have noticed you still have one achievement. This achievement is based solely on luck and requires you to complete the first level in less than 5 seconds. Yes, 5 seconds. As the crystals spawn in random locations, you will only get this if all the crystals are bunched together. If not, exit the game and start again.

Conclusion
Well, that's it! This may not be the longest and hardest arcade game to finish, but it surely isn't the easiest and fastest! Invest some good amount of time into this game and you'll be happy with another completed arcade game on your card.

There are 12 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Avoid mines etc for 20 levels

Set the difficulty to 5. You can die and still get this, as long as you do not hit a mine. It may help to slow down the controller speed.

  • Finish wave 60

Set the difficulty to 1. The game will be vary easy. By the time it gets hard, you will have lots of lives. This one is not hard, just time consuming.

  • Have 30 lives in hand

Start on standard difficulty and play to wave ten. When you get to wave ten, you will fight dumples (big pink enemies). Do not grab all the small crystals. Grab one crystal, kill all of the dumples until no more appear. The dumples take fore shouts to kill, but will give you 2,000 points. Then grab another crystal. When you get to wave 14 you will fight trimpets (green guys that move horizontally and vertically and can only be killed with a smart bomb). When you get five of them on the screen, no more enemies will come. Use a smart bomb to kill them. This will get you a lot of points. Thanks to Crash 27 for the tip.

  • Collect 30 bonus crystals

You can get this one when you are getting the Life-saver achievement. Start on standard difficulty and play to wave ten. Do not grab all the small crystals. Grab one crystal, kill all of the dumples until no more appear. Pick up the bonus crystals when they show up.

  • Destroy 20 nasties with one smart bomb

Set the difficulty to ten and get to level 19. Wait for 20 enemies to show up and then use a smart bomb. If you are having a hard time with this, then you can purchase the Extreme Scenario. With the Extreme Scenario, you can do this on the first level.

  • Score 10,000,000 or more in one game

Start the game on level 10 difficulty. When you see a bonus crystal pick it up as they are worth a lot of points. You should have this one by level 12.

  • 1,000,000 on first life

Start the game on level 10 difficulty. If you are a bought to die then use a smart bomb.

  • Collect all the crystals and exit the gateway of wave 1 in 5 seconds or less

This one is just luck as it is random where the crystals start. If you do not get it, then just start the game over again.

  • 1,000,000 points without smarting at standard difficulty level or higher

Set the difficulty to 10. You can die and still get the achievement. Just do not use a smart bomb.

  • Have 30 smarts in hand

Set the difficulty to 1. Just go through the levels and pick up the bombs. You can get this one at the same time that you are getting the marathon man achievement.

  • Score 1,000,000

Not hard at all. Just get 1,000,000 points.

  • Score 10,000 points

    Just get 10,000 points.
