Introduction:
Apache Air Assault is a (you guessed it) game where you fly various helicopters, completing missions requiring you to destroy enemies, defend and control checkpoints and escort convoys. Most of the achievements will give you no problems, only a few missions on realistic are likely to cause any issues.
Walkthrough:
Start off playing through the campaign. There is an achievement for completing the the chapters (story mode is split into three seperate chapters) on realistic difficulty. If you have any problems getting through the missions, change the difficulty down to training, complete and go back and try again later. Two particular missions that can be a pain are Sharks In The Water and City On Fire. There are video guides, but the trick is landing on the helipads to restock your weapons which will take quite a few goes to nail. At the end of your first mission, if you are connected online you will get "Shot At Fame," then make sure you watch a replay til the end to get "Deadliest Home Videos."
You will need a friend to do all the local co-op achievements with, all though if you haven't, set the difficulty to training and use two controllers. You will fly with one controller and shoot with the other. This isn't ideal but works well enough on training difficulty.
There are achievements for getting secondary objectives, there are only four, check the guide to see where they are.
There are 18 mission specific achievements you should pick up through the campaign, including 4 you will need a local co-op partner for. Completing three missions on co-op will get you "Apache of Two."
You will get "Rotorhead" when you finish the campaign, and finishing all of each chapter's missions on realistic will get you "Desert Striker," "Feet Wet" and "Jungle Striker." If you watch the credits through to the end you will unlock "This Is The End," however you can watch these any time from the main menu.
Playing through the campaign you will probably unlock "Hotshot," "Ripple Effect," "See It," "Shoot It," "Sticky Trigger Finger," "Gun Fighter," "Sting Like A Bee," "Rocketman" and "Hell Yeah" if you are utilizing all available weapons. If you are playing on realistic you will have "Touchdown" by the end of the campaign, and you should have completed at least one mission without dying for "Without A Scratch."
Make sure to press :ubut: in each location to enter satellite view for "Big Brother Is Watching You."
Next find yourself a boosting partner for the Squad Operations section. Use the achievement trading threadhere. You will only need to do one mission online to unlock "Squadrowned," and will get "Dominator" for completing "Domination". It is recommended to play through all these missions together as some of them are pretty hard and much easier with two of you.
Once you have all of them done (on your own or with your partner) you will get "Team Player." If you have the campaign already complete you will pick up "Helicopterific" at this point.
By completing missions and squad operations, you unlock skins and decals for your chopper. Complete them all to achieve "Skin Deep" and "Bumper Stickers."
Mop Up:
If you don't have some of the weapons achievements listed above, see the guide for easy places to boost them, however you should have most by now. Just a few more achievements to unlock now, some you may have already.
Go into Freeflight mode, and play a mission with each of the helicopters for
"What, No Roflcopter?" Just kill all enemies with each chopper for this one. Follow the achievement guide to do a barrel roll to get "Peppy's Request." Note that you need to have a bit of forward momentum to pull this off.
Start the first mission and keep it in cockpit view (use training mode as your vision is obscured), complete for "Keeping It Real."
When you have completed the campaign you will unlock veteran difficulty. Start up the first mission and change the difficulty to veteran. Completing this will get you "New Veteran," just take your time as your chopper can be hard to handle on this difficulty.
Conclusion:
To wrap up, this game is pretty easy to get around the 800, but completing missions on realistic can give you problems due to the terrible handling of the helicopters. With a lot of practice and a little luck you will get the full 1000. There are no glitchy achievements, and most of them will come through natural play. Enjoy!
